How do I hide/show a folder in the tree view?

Hello Austin,
I've tested using the 'Create Sub Folder' step in Integration → Internal Services → FolderService and it creates folders which are by default visible in the Folder Tree. Though it requires a browser refresh for them to show up in the Tree. Are you seeing a different behavior?

We can control whether a Folder is visible in the Tree by giving it appropriate permissions. Refer https://documentation.decisions.com/docs/about-folder-portal-permissions for details on this.

Hello

We can display a confirmation message on the click of a Button by checking the 'Needs Confirmation' property available under the Behaviour properties of the Button. This would allow you to define a custom Confirmation Message, as well as the 'Yes' or 'No' text.

Logout User after certain inactivity or Tab close

We can log the user after a defined period of inactivity using the 'Auto Lock Screen' setting. This can be found at Settings → Portal Settings.

We use cookies to manage the Logged-in User Sessions in the Browser. Unless the user selects "Remember Me" on the Login Page, these cookies (browser session cookies) are cleared out by the browser when you close it and logs the user out.
When you close the Tabs (browser still open), they are not cleared out. This is managed by the Browser and not something we can control.

'Same variable output as different types' error

osman@decisions.com
osman@decisions.com

This error shows up when multiple steps output the same variable but with different datatypes. This is a Design Validation and your Flow should still run without issue.
As an example, I have initialized a Position variable in my CreateData step with the Int16 type. Further ahead in the Flow, this variable is getting its value changed on the Add step. The Add step returns a Decimal value as its output. So now the flow has the Position variable with two different datatypes: Int16 and Decimal; which is why you are receiving these Validation errors.

These can be resolved by ensuring the Datatype is the same in both steps.

Currently, Decisions doesn't support this natively. You can use an SSO authentication which supports logging in using Mobile OTP to achieve this.

You can use the 'Substring' step found under Data → Text to achieve this. You'll need to pass in the starting index and the number of characters to return for the Sub-String on this step.

This property is configurable in Designer Studio settings. Setting 'Show warning if Item is related to more than X number of Rules or Flows' to a certain large number will make this property ineffective and therefore no warning message will be displayed.

We need to have a Report with 'Account Folder Access View' as Data Source and add relevant fields that will allow us to display the permissions given to the accounts for a folder. Apply filter based on the FolderID to fetch the data for a particular folder.

Hey
You need to use the 'Flow inline field' property and define a flow that calculates the difference in days using the 'Get difference in Days' flow component. Map the newer date input to the current date and older date input to the date from the Data Structure field. Refer https://documentation.decisions.com/docs/flow-based-steps-report for more information.

Hello
For sending emails to all the accounts of a group, we need to fetch the accounts of that group using 'GetAccountsForGroup' step found at Integration→Internal Services→GroupService→GetAccountsForGroup and map the list of email addresses of these accounts to sender list of 'Send Email' steps.

Renaming Decisions Database

Hello
For renaming the Decisions Database, please follow the below steps:
  • Stop Service Host Manager Watcher.
  • Stop Service Host Manager.
  • Rename the Database in the Management Studio.
  • Run the Decisions Installer → ensure 'Change Settings On Update' is checked and Update.
  • Specify the new Database name in the Database Setup stage during the Installer.
This should update your installation to run against the renamed Database. This process may cause your Scheduled Jobs to stop from running. To fix this, you'll need to do the process defined here http://https://support.decisions.com/forum/topic2786-job-server-error-after-install-from-db-backup.aspx

Do forms time out?

osman@decisions.com

Hey
By default, the Forms remain active until and unless there is some action from the user or the server goes down. Contradictory to this, if we want to terminate the Form after a specific time, we can use the 'Timer Exit' Form component. Also, in the case of InSession Form, enable the 'Auto Resume' properties and on the Assigned Forms enable the 'Auto Complete Step' property for completing the Forms if the user doesn't interact with them for a certain period.

Merge multiple Excel Files

osman@decisions.com
osman@decisions.com

Along with the Add Worksheet step, we need to use steps like 'Set Values In Row' and 'Update File With Data' to populate the data in the added worksheet.
We need to loop all the files using the ForEach step. In the loop of the ForEach step, use the 'Get Worksheet Name From Index' step to get the name of the files and set them as the worksheet names. Introduce the 'Add Worksheet' step ahead of the 'For Each Excel Or CSV Row' step to loop each row of a file and set that values in rows of the added worksheet using the 'Set Values In Row' step.
Under the inputs of the 'Set Values In Row' step, for input names 'values', we need to set the mapping type to Build Array and add a maximum number of columns expected in the excel file.

I have created an example that demonstrates the merging of excel files. Please import, review, and modify it as you wish.
