Understanding Cluster Settings

brandon.roberts@decisions.com

Hello,

Setting up Clustering with decisions can be a little tricky, especially with the way you are setting things up.
Setting up Clustering starts with three basic settings

  • Do Base URL Check - Tells the main server to check all the active servers to make sure they have the same base URL.
  • Turn on Clustering - Turns on clustering
  • Use Https - Allows the machines to communicate via HTTPS instead of HTTP.
When setting up the cluster only machine host the main server needs to have settings set. After that is set they should be able to add the other machines via their clustering settings.
Here is some Documentation that helps with setting up Clustering: https://documentation.decisions.com/docs/setting-up-server-clustering
If this doesn’t help or you feel like your case is more unique feel free to contact support!!

Issues using Flow Inline Calculated Column

brandon.roberts@decisions.com

Hi,

Setting up an Inline Flow Column is a little tricky hopeful this information helps.
The most important thing you want to pay attention to is the name on the get cell by name step.

You want the name to match the SQL statement name that is used to access the field you need. You can find the SQL statement with that information by selecting the “View SQL” button.
You will get a screen like this:

This is where you will find the name for the “name” mapping on the “Get cell by Name” step.

Use the name of the data field you are trying to run a calculation for just make sure that it is EXACTLY the same.
Note**
If the results are not showing immediately close and save the report and then open it again.

Let me know if you are still running into trouble or feel free to contact support.

How to make buttons uniform?

Hi,
The button sizes in Decisions can be modified using CSS. What you can do is create a stylesheet for your buttons and apply that to your form. If you need a quick fix you can actually select your button in the form designer and go to Views in the properties on the right of the form designer and enter “full-size” in the CSS Class field that will make your button uniform with the other buttons. This is a known issue that will be resolved in future versions.

Run Flow??

brandon.roberts@decisions.com

Hi,

The run flow page component allows you to run flows directly from your page.
Once you drag it to the page you should the option to select a flow to link it to under flow settings. Above that you should also be able to see the Select Button Type dropdown, on default it is set as a link. Click on the dropdown and set it to button.

At this point you can click on create and that will take you to a flow designer.

Once you have your flow created go ahead and close and save the flow designer and the page designer. The button should show up on your page and once you click it it will run the flow you have setup.

Folder Action Bar?

brandon.roberts@decisions.com

A folder action bar allows you to add actions to your page and you can even add custom actions that run flows directly from it.
You can add it pretty easily by going back into the page designer and adding a Folder Actions Bar you can find this by searching folder action in the page elements search bar.

Once you save your page after adding it you should be able to see it with the standard actions that you normally see on your decisions portal. When you want to add an action you will click on manage -> page -> add flow as action at the bottom of your page. You will be able to name the action how you want and link it to a flow. Once you refresh the page your action should be there and you click to run your flow.

If you don’t want the standard actions to show on the action bar you can filter the bar to only show your actions. You just need to check the filter actions box and add your actions name.

Once set the action bar will only show the actions you add to the filter.

Hello,

Double check to see if there are any default outcomes set on your form. If a default outcome is set on your form than that can cause the issue you are experiencing. We can check this by going into your form designer and checking under Form Outcome Scenario in the properties tab of your toolbox.

Custom Error Message

Hello,

Yes,we can, what we would do is use a catch exception step and link that to and end form which you can use to create your own custom error message. You can find this step by navigating to Flow Management -> Catch Exception in the toolbox of your Flow Designer. Once you drag this step onto your flow designer and link it to an end step it will catch the error when your flow hits an error and it will display your form. Keep in mind though that this will catch all errors and display your form so you should leave this step while debugging your flow.

Having a data grid update during run time

Hello,
What you would want to do is setup a trigger for your data flow run on your form. In this example a set up the trigger as an invisible check box whose change in value will trigger the data flow to run again each time the sub-dialog flow finishes.

Notice the changes between the first and last screenshot. IF you run into trouble setting this please contact support

Hello,
What we would need to do here is use an add file step in the flow. If you have multiple attachments you would need to use a for each step so that it will for each attachment that you add on your form. If this doesn’t clear things up please let me know.

How to Flattening PDF file

Hello Ruby,

What we should add here is a "Make PDF Document Read Only" step. This change your PDF document into a read only document and that will prevent users from editing it. In your flow you'll put this right after the "Set Form Fields" step you are using.

Reuse Assignment?

brandon.roberts@decisions.com
brandon.roberts@decisions.com
Administrator
Hello,

The Reuse Assignment setting is a way for you to use less assignments while navigating back into the assignment. Use case: If you have a save button on the assignment that leaves the form, saves some data, and goes back into itself with Reuse assignment checked it maintains the same assignment data (Assignment Id, Start Date, etc.) for that assignment keeping everything about it the same. Making your system save and create less data. It is mostly used for routing back functionality. If you exit the flow the form is in, or the flow hits another form before going back however, then the Reuse Assignment setting would not work.

Root Install Question

Hi,

An installation on root will require a fresh install, but we can have the http requests redirected to a base URL you can set. All you need to do is run the installer again and this time update your base URL while going through the settings after you have made the appropriate settings in IIS. I will include a link to our documentation that should help.

Data Extensions?

brandon.roberts@decisions.com
brandon.roberts@decisions.com

Hello,

Using Data extensions you can add “Virtual” fields that exist on your data structure. Once the Data Extension has been created, whenever the data structure that uses it is called into a flow that Data Extension will also be usable. As an example of this would be using a Data Extension to get the First and Last name of an account and creating a string value with the Full name, this full name will be available for every account type that is in a flow. I will include a link to our documentation that has a really great visual on how you can build something like this.
