Process upgrading from v 6 to v 7

Hello! Version 6 and 7 have some structural differences between the two. While the process of upgrading should be fairly smooth, you are unable to use the same database for v6 again following an upgrade to v7. I recommend backing up your v6 database files as a preemptive measure. Included below are 3 links to our Documentation page that should be of some help.

Requirements for running v7 on a self-hosted environment: https://documentation.decisions.com/v7/docs/installation-requirements-self-hosted-environment

How to have get emails step filter specific folder

Hello!

In order to specify a folder, you can make use of the ‘Get Headers’ step. One of the inputs for this is ‘Folders’, which can be set to a constant and defined by the folder name (inbox, spam, sent, etc.) Note that this may differ depending on what email provider is being used.

Report Won't Refresh With New Assignment

Hello!

In order to refresh a Dashboard displaying current user Assignments whenever a new one is assigned, you are able to add a ‘Send Folder Change Event’ step under the ‘On Step Run Flow’ option for the assigned form. This notifies the Dashboard to update each time a new assignment is sent.

Report Won't Refresh With New Assignment

Absolutely! You're actually on the right track.

On the Step Start Flow Type drop-down menu, you're able to change the option to either SharedFlow or Private. Either of these options works. Private automatically creates a flow specific to this assignment, SharedFlow allows the flow to be used in other applications. Once you've picked, the Flow to Run option appears, giving you the ability to edit the flow that will run when the current flow reaches the assignment step.

Click the Edit button, and you'll be greeted with the familiar flow environment. Find the Send Folder Change Event step using the search bar, and drag it into the flow attached to the start step, then attach the Send Folder Change Event step to the end step. Locate the the ID of the folder containing your Dashboard (Right Click the Dashboard folder -> Manage -> Get Folder ID) and paste it into the Folder ID Input on your Send Folder Change Event step.

Now you're all set! The Send Folder Change Event step sends an update to the designated folder to refresh and show any changes/new information. The Send Folder Change Event flow will be instructed to run each time the Assignment step is reached in its parent flow, ensuring it stays up to date with the latest assignments.

Document Viewer on mobile devices?

Hi Trey!

As of now that feature is not currently supported. The development team has been notified that this is something we want in the near future, so keep an eye out in upcoming release notes for this change. As of now, the only workaround specifically involving the document viewer form control would be through use of desktop view.

Flow to show Monthly Anniversary of accounts?

ethan.price@decisions.com

Hello! This is absolutely possible. Below is an image of a built flow that can achieve your desired goal.

This flow obtains all accounts and information that are within the specific instance, the current date, and the total number of days in the current month (calculated by the truth table). Then, it runs each account through a rule to determine if the account creation day of the month matches the current day of the month. It also is able to determine if the present day is the last day of the month, it incorporates any accounts that were created on days afterwards. For example, if an account was created January 31st, and the present day was February 28th, the rule would evaluate that our example account was celebrating an anniversary, as the current month would have no 31st.

Get data from excel sheet?

Hi!

Assuming you're referring to pulling data from a spreadsheet into a flow, the simplest way to go about this is using the Import Excel or CSV step. This is obtainable in the steps panel by a quick search. Attached below is a link to our documentation page that provides information on configuring and using this step.

Hi!

While Decisions does offer translation options, the Google Translate Widget is not currently supported to translate the native site on a browser.

Further information regarding translation options can be found here: https://documentation.decisions.com/docs/using-translation-steps

Hi Michal!

Just to clarify, have you also given your account permissions for 'Can View' and 'Can Open'? Allowing the 'Can View' permission would allow the dashboard folder to show in the folder tree, giving you access to test.

Hey!

Based on your description, it sounds like you may want to explore using a Flow Execution Extension. I'll attach a link to our documentation detailing each of our different Data Structures and what they're capable of.

https://documentation.decisions.com/docs/understanding-difference-between-data-structures

I also would suggest hopping on to one of our Lunch and Learns! This seems like a perfect question to be addressed there. We host these every Monday-Thursday at 12:00pm EDT.

Hey!

Yes, this is completely possible! I attached a link to our documentation that details making use of the File Upload/Download form components.

https://documentation.decisions.com/docs/using-the-multiple-file-upload-and-download-components

You can have a database structure built that stores user input in a form, and also store any files that were uploaded as well.

I hope this helps!

Hey!

By navigating to System > Administration > System Tools > Flow Management you'll have access to a variety of reports involving flows, steps, and their processes and time stamps. For steps specifically, The Flow Structure report (on the top of the page, likely under More) includes lots of information.

I hope this helps!

Sample Data Showing in an Unrelated Flow

ethan.price@decisions.com
ethan.price@decisions.com

Hey!

Unlike Unit Tests, Sample Data is not bound to a specific flow, they're saved in Decisions can be implemented across multiple flows even without a user defining them to do so. More information can be found on our Documentation page regarding this:

https://documentation.decisions.com/docs/unit-testing-debugging

As for your specific question, the flow should be safe for deletion. The Sample Data is simply there for availability, and doesn't signal any issues such as other flows being dependent on this one.

I hope this helps!

How to Change Label Colors and Backgrounds in V7?

ethan.price@decisions.com
ethan.price@decisions.com
Administrator
Changing label colors/fonts/backgrounds on forms is very similar to the process used in Version 6.

As for the label text, click the label on the form, and navigate to the Properties panel on the right. Open up the View tab. There will be a small checkbox labeled Use Form Font. By default, this will be checked, meaning that any labels used on the form will use one singular font/color/style. Uncheck this box, and the Label Attributes options will appear underneath to customize the label. Clicking the pencil icon will open all the options for the label, excluding the background.

The background follows a similar process, but needs an added bit. Backgrounds themselves are not bound to form components such as labels and buttons, they're bound onto Grids. When opening up a new default form, clicking on an empty space in the form will select the containing grid and give you it's Properties options on the right. Click the View tab again, and the final selection box will be for Background Type. By default, it's transparent, but selecting Color will give the option to select the background color for that specific grid. Alternatively, you can also add an image as a background.

If your goal is to exclusively have the label with a differing background, add a new grid into the form within the dimensions you want your label, then place the label within it!

'Total' Field not an Input Option on Copied Form

ethan.price@decisions.com
ethan.price@decisions.com

Hello!

The likely cause is that the Data Flow on the copied form was not removed. The Total field is still expecting an input from the Data Flow attached to the form, rather than the main flow the form is in. Since the Total field doesn’t require any calculations to be done on this form, simply removing the Data Flow should solve the issues and allow that field input to be mapped normally.

I hope this helps!

Updating a Database Structure Using a Form

I have a project attached that could set you on the right track. In the project, you'll be greeted by a few different objects, such as a Database Structure, a few flows and forms, and a report to view the data being stored.

Before anything, you'll need to run the Run This Flow to Create Data! flow, otherwise the rest will just be blank. By running the main flow, you'll be prompted by a drop-down menu requesting which account is to be edited. Once submitted, a new form opens containing the information already in the database in editable fields. Once the form is submitted, it passes through a Selective Update step to update the account selected. This is all explained when viewing the main flow in the designer, I encourage you to take a look!

I hope this helps!

This is a quick process. In the Page Designer, click on the Tab Container. On the Properties panel on the right-hand side under the Layout tab, there will be a drop-down menu where you can select the default tab.

Hope this helps!
